Ski & Snowboard Guide
Isola 2000 is a high-altitude ski resort in the southern French Alps, offering 120 km of well-maintained pistes between 1,800m and 2,610m. With 45 alpine ski slopes—3 black, 13 red, 22 blue, and 7 green—it provides a varied terrain suitable for all levels. The resort’s high elevation ensures reliable snow cover throughout the season, making it a great choice for skiers looking for consistent conditions.
From the top of the resort, skiers can take in breathtaking views stretching from the Écrins massif to the Mediterranean Sea, with Monte Viso and the Argentera massif also visible on clear days. The ski area is designed with efficiency in mind, featuring a well-connected lift system and intelligently laid-out pistes, ensuring minimal congestion and maximum time on the slopes.
For freestyle enthusiasts, Isola 2000 boasts a snowpark at 2,300m in the Marmottes sector, open daily from 10 am to 4 pm. It includes a slopestyle zone, handrails, a beginner-friendly Family Park, and a boardercross course. The park regularly hosts national and European competitions, attracting skilled skiers and snowboarders looking to push their limits.
Beginners will find a well-sized nursery area with gentle green slopes for learning the basics, while intermediate skiers can enjoy a broad selection of blue and red runs that offer a mix of wide cruisers and steeper descents. Though advanced skiers may find the number of black runs somewhat limited, the off-piste opportunities make up for it, with deep powder bowls and tree runs available for those seeking a challenge.
Despite its purpose-built design, Isola 2000 compensates with excellent infrastructure, including modern hotels, efficient lift systems, and a lively après-ski scene. The resort organizes regular events, from live concerts to social gatherings, making it a welcoming destination for skiers looking to combine great snow conditions with a fun atmosphere.
Where to Eat
Try La Raclette for, well, delicious Raclette – a must-have delicacy when in the region. You can also get a good raclette in the Marmotte.
La Valette is a cosy option on the mountain with deliciously different menu options. Try the Cow Club for amazing pizza.
Après Shred
Isola 2000 is a pretty buzzy resort and regularly arranges events, parties, barbeques and boarding competitions. Aside from these special events there is also a host of good bars and clubs to be enjoyed every night of the week. The Snowball Bar is the social centrepiece of the village and is a bowling alley – cum bar. If you’re in the market for some late night dancing check out Le Cuba Loca. Or for a more relaxed, sophis vibe try La Rhumerie.
For family après options you can take the little one’s for a delightful sleigh ride or ice-skating or tobogganing.
